Ft. Desoto Paw Beach
Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, Ft. Desoto’s dog friendly beach was named by Florida Southern magazine as one of the top 5 southern dog parks in America. In 2005 Ft. Desoto was voted #1 of the top ten beaches by Dr. Beach. Coastal Living Magazine listed Paw Beach in their article; “Our Favorite Dog-Friendly Beaches.”

Ft. Desoto Paw Beach
If you love dogs and you love the beach then you might just love Ft. Desoto Paw Beach as much as I do.
In St. Petersburg, Florida you’ll find one of the best dog beaches in America. Beach goers love to spend the day enjoying the sun and surf with their pups, allowing them to run without leashes and play to their hearts’ content. It can be a little overwhelming at times, unless you’re okay with happy beachdogs stopping by to grab some shade under your umbrella, asking for a drink of water before they run off to find a new k9 friend to play with or make their rounds to mingle with the other dog lovers. You might get a little sand and salt water shower once in a while, right about the time you’re ready to take a bite out of that sandwich you packed along, but it’s a fair price to pay for all the free entertainment (except for a couple of tolls to get out to the park). If you’re ok with all of that, then this is the beach for you!
It’s just so entertaining to watch the dogs delight in their freedom to run, fetch, swim, roll in the sand and make new friends. It’s almost as fun to watch the proud beachdog parents showing off their pups and watching the joy of their BFF having the time of their lives. It’s like Disneyland for dogs!
