FOSTER A DOG!

Many rescue organizations have people "foster" dogs and puppies in their homes until they can be adopted. This helps scared and homeless animals learn that people can be good, and important socialization skills that will help them prepare for their "forever home" when they are adopted. It also keeps them out of shelters, where they can catch contagious diseases, or be put down.

Check to see if a rescue organization in your area needs doggie foster parents. If you decide to foster a dog or puppy, you can post his or her picture on our website to help him or her find a forever home.

  1. Spay or neuter you dog.

Give the countless animals already in shelters a chance by not making more puppies, and improve your dog's health and chances of avoiding reproductive system cancers.

  1. Volunteer at an adoption booth.

Contact your local rescue organization or animal shelter to see if they need help running their adoption booths, or in their shelters.

  1. Donate money or needed items.

Many animal shelters or rescue organizations need supplies like old newspapers, towels, leashes, cages, and dog food.  And many need donations of money to help cover shelter costs or medicines and necessary surgeries to help save animal lives. Contact your local shelter or rescue organization to find out their needs.
